3D Design Workshop

As part of our semester assignment, the creation of a promotional video for a pair of headphones, we did some lighting exercises in advance.
We were provided with two 3D scenes, which had to be lit differently using Redshift to create the desired atmosphere as instructed our lecturer.

The two atmospheres he had in mind for the „FrezTV“-scene were „Bibis Beauty Palace“ and „The Ring“.

Two completely different genres, moods and atmospheres.
While the brand of the YouTuber „Bibis Beauty Palace“ is visually bubbly, fun, colourful and ‚feminine‘, the show „The Ring“ on the other hand seems harsh, dark and ‚masculine‘.

For the second exercise, we were given a 3D model of a head to practice different lighting methods.

The requirements were to create a three point lighting setup using a key, rim and fill light. Soft shadows were also required, as well as the creation of a typical Rembrandt triangle.

For the other lighting method, we were only given the specification of ’split lighting‘, but were given a great deal of creative freedom in its implementation.
